Booleans

Booleans combine search terms- usually to narrow results, but some booleans combine terms to broaden results. Each database is set up to work with certain booleans. Most academic databases use these,  but check the database help

Booleans get their name from Mathemetician George Boole (who may have been the inspiration for Sherlock Holmes nemesis Moriarty)
